All Set for Kadayawan sa Dabaw 2011

Kadayawan sa Dabaw festival celebration is drawing near and I shall be there to witness this fantastically colorful event again this year! I went to watch it with my dear friend Anne last year and we’re definitely be doing it again this year.

On a regular travel, Davao City is roughly 4 hours away from where I live right now but I never once mind commuting that far if it’s for this event. Glad my friend is so on it too. We certainly both enjoyed taking pictures and here are some of them from last year.
This globally renowned festival is a weeklong celebration of thanksgiving for nature’s bountiful harvest. It is celebrated on the 3rd week of August.

Derived from the pre-historic word “madayaw” which means a warm and friendly welcome, Kadayawan is a celebration of life, a thanksgiving for the gifts of nature, the wealth of culture, the bounties of harvest and serenity of living.

There shall be no passing up. Anne and I are all set for this year's festivity!

Linking this to Scenic Sunday.
